Future Leaders in Healthcare Conference
(For current HEROES students only)
The North Carolina AHEC in conjunction with its Health Careers and Workforce Diversity Council will host its annual Future Leaders in Healthcare Conference in a different city in North Carolina every year. This conference is for 9th-12th grade students who are interested in a career in healthcare. The conference will introduce students to healthcare professionals, college and university representatives, an array of workshops and speakers and extra-curricular activities designed with students in mind.
HEROES Summer Program
Summer 2009
Designed to introduce students to the background essential for medical and health-related careers, this program offers a fantastic summer enrichment experience. Students from Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools also qualify to receive course credit through the CMS Academic Internship Program.
HEROES Health Career Connection (H2C2)
October 2008 - May 2009
H2C2 is a health career club for high school students that are interested in learning more about careers in healthcare. It meets once a month from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Students will thoroughly enjoy health science workshops, field trips, health career speakers, games and so much more!
SAT Prep Strategies Workshop
September 27 - 28, 2008
November 15 - 16, 2008
Raise your SAT scores! This weekend workshop was designed by Dr. Joseph Aicher, Professor of Political Science at NCCU, Durham, NC to help students (grades 9-12) score higher on the SAT. Students will learn the strategies to master the essay, make reading comprehension easy, and tackle the mathematics and Algebra II questions. Students will take a mock SAT and receive their scores. During the parent and student consultation on the third day, students will receive recommendations on study skills and recommendations for score improvement.
